REPRODUCTION : A client may see a unique piece, perhaps whilst travelling aborad, e.g. an 18 th century stone fireplace in a French Chateau. Clearly the piece is not for sale and cannot be removed. It is unique and no others like it are to be found even with extensive research. Only that piece will satisfy the client’s project needs. Enter A Misura. With dimensions and photos we can reproduce the item and its finish to exactly the specifications of the original . If necessary we can scale the dimensions to fit your project.
SINKS/BATHTUBS : A Misura has helped clients with custom kitchen/bathroom projects where a custom sized and designed monolithic sink is required. Solid stone sinks are available on the market but the homeowner is restricted to standard sizing/configuration/stone type. A Misura offers monolithic sinks in any natural stone and in any dimension/configuration the project requires . Each item is made for the client alone. From farmhouse sinks to elegant pedestal sinks, vanities, solid bathtubs and outdoor garden sinks.
ORIGINAL DESIGNS : Architects wishing to render a stone design concept into reality. There is clearly no such item on the market. The piece will require artisan skills. A Misura will follow the architects drawings and design inspiration and is able to render the architect’s vision in solid stone.
MUSEUM PIECES : Interior Designers are frequently inspired by items or artwork from the past, many of which are housed in museums. Unknown to most, there are still a handful of stone masons in Europe who have permission to take measurements from the original artwork. A Misura works with these artisans. So if the design requires a scaled up/down reproduction of a piece from e.g. the Capitoline Museum in Rome, this can be achieved.
ECCLESIASTICAL PIECES : A Misura will apply its knowledge and its mason’s skills to restoration projects e.g. church exteriors which have been damaged by pollution and time where features need to be replaced. Similarly many pieces on the interior of religious buildings apply to A Misuras’s specialized services e.g. altars, pulpits or fonts from solid stone or requiring bas relief work.
GARDEN PIECES : Often clients will have to satisfy their landscaping designs with precast and mass produced items that are not entirely as they dreamed. With your drawings & photos of your design concept you could have a solid stone garden bench, trough, fountain or other garden follie according to your specifications.
A Misura works with several European master stone masons. Each project will dictate the particular mason who will execute the piece. There are only a handful of such stone masons remaining in Europe who qualify for the level of project for which A Misura contracts. Amazingly, their techniques have changed little over the centuries. We are happy to be a part of keeping such disappearing trades from vanishing forever in a world of mass production.
